Bitcoin Peer to Peer Network Messages per Hour
We calculate this by counting the number of message we receive of each type in a 5 minute period. We then divide that number by the number of connects we have to other peers. We then scale that to be an hourly (for blocks) or minutely (for transactions and address messages). We then take an average of those 5min period figures over the preceding hour and display a chart of that. Not that the blocks are scaled differently to the other messages.
